10:08pm: Good lord...
reading back on my old livejournal entries, I couldn't believe how immature I sounded. It sounds like the ranting of some 16 yr old. I can't believe how much I've changed in the past couple of years, but change I have. The proof is on my MySpace. I think. My interests have changed as well. I might need to update that on my livejournal. I wonder if my diaryland account is still valid...scary thoughts. If anyone even reads this anymore, check out my myspace :

I'll be updating my LJ soon enough...

10:01pm: Karina Elyse Melendrez
Sooooooooo ....my older sister had her 5th child yesterday. Karina Elyse Melendrez was born at Pomona Valley Hospital, and she weighs 7lbs. Mi let Ana name the baby because she helped in the delivery room, and I voted for Karina Elyse vs. Klarissa. Thank god Ana is a big DHC fan like me.I already emailed Karina letting her know there is a new baby girl named after her.Good times.xoxo.

2:54pm: more musical adventures...
I finally got to see NINA GORDON!! I had met her a couple of times, but I actually got to see her PERFORM.She sounded AMAZING, and the new songs were really good. That was a Saturday night about 2 weeks ago...and Tracy Bonham was there.Well, Matt is a big fan, so I had her sign a napkin for him, and she was really nice.Sooooooo...that lead us to go see her set the Wednesday after that Saturday. She was AMAZING as well.I never really liked her that much, but after seeing her live, I ordered all her cds from Amazon. She was also gracious enough to play "Freed" and dedicate it to Matt.Of course I got to see Kay Hanley at Spaceland, ALONE! But I met Betsy there, a girl from the MB and we totally hit it off for the SECOND time.Kay's new ep is SO good. She was nice enough to bring us burned copies of it to the Spaceland show, since it was a week before the EP was gonna be released and she was gonna be in Boston then.Lets see...oh yes, and I was lucky enough to go to the LAMC on the Santa Monica Pier for LOS ABANDONED, ELY GUERRA and ANDREA ECHEVERRI.We missed Los Abandoned's set, but thats ok...I've seen them 25+ times...Ely Guerra was amazing..and so was Andrea.I can't wait for their new albums, coming soon!! I got to meet Ely Guerra. She was a doll. She signed my cd "Para Mundo, con mucho amor, Ely Guerra".I also got Andrea to sign a CD for me.I'm on another roll..woohoo..I'm sad though, cos Julieta Venegas is playing tonight and I can't afford to go.Los ABandoned is opening for her too!! Well, on a brighter note, Dance Hall Crashers are playing YET AGAIN!!!!!!! November 19th in San Francisco, and November 20th in LA.I'm planning on going to both...ROAD TRIP!! Talitha, if you're reading this...YOU HAVE TO GO!!!!!!! xoxo

Why does Kathleen Hanna sound like a valley girl?? So I got the new Sonic Youth DVD. It just looked interesting, and I remembered buying "Goo" after watching the video for 'Tunic' at an art museum.I didn't know Kathleen Hanna was in their video for 'Bull in the Heather'.They do an interview with her about making the video, and she sounds so retarded! Well, I guess I sound the same way sometimes, and I'm a guy...but its funny seeing her talking "like oh my gosh, what was I thinking?" and I was like "What WERE you thinking??" ...well, Gwen Stefani sounds like an airhead too, but I guess her music is a little fluffier than Kathleen's so its ok? I dunno...I just never thought I'd hear Kathleen Hanna say "oh my gosh, I was soooooooooo cute...." xoxo

1:36pm: happy fuckiny easter
So I finally get a day off. Its been 2 weeks since I've had a day off, and I had to ask for today off, not even knowing it was Easter Sunday.Well, do I get to relax?? No. Of course my dad already made plans for me, and I will be moving cars for the next few HOURS.Joy.I don't mind helping my dad, because he's helped me out alot, but I really can't take it today. He never asks if I have plans, he just assumes I have absolutely nothing to do if I'm not working. So, I don't get to go to my Grandma's house, and I don't get to see Matt. And tomorrow? Back to work.

8:33pm: out of avalon, and spaceland...
The Kay Hanley show at Spaceland was amazing. She sounded great.I also got to meet Nina Gordon, who was there hanging out with Kay.They were both so nice and down-to-earth, I could barely believe it.So...last night, I decided to rent "Helen of Troy" because it looked good, and I love historical/fantasy epic movies, and I loved it! It was 4 hours long, and I watched it all the way through...without a break! I'm still reading the book I bought "Out of Avalon", and I can't wait to get "Return to Avalon" in the mail.Gawd, I'm such a geek...but don't worry, I don't dress up for the Renaissance Faire...I've never even been to one! But I love anything having to do with elves, dwarves, wizards, goddesses, faeries,etc...maybe its because this world can be so ugly sometimes, I like to escape it...xoxo

11:01pm: the back of your head is telling me what you won't say...
I think its funny how some of these livejournals are SO deep and people write all kinds of crazy and abstract things. It makes me feel like mine is really superficial and shallow for just having thoughts, and messages and random occurrences...but I guess, everyone is different...example: today I took Matt to school to get his car (the key broke off in the door!) and this guy drove by in a HUGE lowered truck bumping some insane hip hop music, with the windows rolled down of course so EVERYONE could hear what he was playing...and it made me laugh.Matt just looked at me, and asked why I thought it was funny.I didn't know what to say.I guess, that I don't care enough about how my car looks to invest any type of money into it, let alone blast the Juliana Hatfield cd that I'm listening to for the whole world to hear...granted, I love to play my music loud...its the only way to listen to a good rock n' roll record, BUT I don't bob my head and give people looks like "yeah...I'm cool, I listen to Juliana Hatfield". But thats JUST ME! I know...I should have figured this out by now...but I think its funny how people LOVE r&b or country music, and it makes me cringe and want to rip my ears off...and yet, I've known people that feel the same way about the Sleater-Kinney album I'm playing, or whatever...to each his own I guess...XOXO

11:52am: my phone's on vibrate for you...
I'm watching "Sharon" and Rufus Wainwright is performing. He's ok I guess.Matt really loves him, but I never got into him.So I haven't updated in a while, but I think its ok...my friends get all the updates they need from my constant IMs.So...October was an AMAZING month!! Besides meeting Juliana Hatfield and Liz Phair, I also got to meet the beautiful and talented Lila Downs. She was of course...very down to earth, and very gracious...I got a picture with her, and had her sign a postcard of a painting of her.She was at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for a Day of the Dead celebration. That was on Saturday, Oct 25th...and on Sunday the 26th, Matt, my friend Jacob and I went to the St. Joan of Arc school in Los Angeles to see Los Abandoned perform. It was a very strange show. There were hardly any fans there, mostly just people from the church. That was at about 3 PM. After that...we went to Amoeba, where I trade in some cds, and then we went to eat. After that..we went to the Hotel Cafe to see NINA GORDON and KAY HANLEY! The sad thing was that Nina got sick, so she couldn't perform...BUT we got to meet Kay and she was sooooooooooooooo nice. She talked to us for a while , while we totally told her how much we loved her music, and we were glad she had moved to LA...and yes, I got a picture with her too..and I got her setlist and she signed it.I know what you're thinking...whats with all the pics?? Well, I just figured...I've met so many awesome artists that I admire over the years, and I've had nothing to document it!! And other people I've known take cameras...so I figured..why not?? And so there you have it...hopefully on Friday I'll get to see the Distillers, camera in hand, get to meet Brody and get a picture with her..we'll see...XOXO

I did it.I got to Spaceland pretty early and hung out outside the door with my sister-n-law.Juliana Hatfield walked right past me, and I didn't even notice!!! She was so small, and fragile...yet cute and cracked out.She totally rocked of course, and I waited around for a while and got to meet her. She's not a very social person.I asked for a picture and she was like "uhhh...sure" and then I said "thanks so much!!" cos I was totally excited, and she was like "umm..yeah..ok" and walked away.I must say that Freda, the drummer, was a total love machine and she signed my setlist too.I accomplished my goal tonight, I just wish Juliana would've loved life a little more...but I guess if you listen to her music...you just know she doesn't. XOXO

11:14am: noro lim, noro lim...
I began to re-read the Lord of the Rings, and as I read I began to see some similarities between Frodo and I. Yes, I know...its totally corny, and yes I am a geek like that.I love Lord of the Rings, and I love epic period pieces, which all of my friends hate. So, yesterday I spoke with Matt on the phone. The whole day I had been thinking about how different we are, and how we've changed and how we've remained the same.I wasn't very happy on the phone, and he could sense it.I just had alot on my mind.Of course, he thought I was thinking of breaking up.He always thinks that.So now, we've both been stabbed by a Morgul blade seemingly, but whether we slip into the world of shadow, or go forward into the light is yet to be determined...XOXO

10:28am: we're already wet, and we're gonna go swimming...
Last night was quite a night.I had promised my friend Verenice at work for a LONG time that I would take her to Oasis, because she had never been and needed to meet a girl.Well, she decided that this Saturday was the day we were gonna go.My b/f had wanted me to come over after work, but I told him I would be too tired since I closed, but I ended up going out with Verenice because I didn't want to be a flake.Well, I called up Jacob and he met us there, since Matt didn't want to go.I hadn't been to Oasis in about a year, so I didn't know what to expect really. When we got there, there was a strip show going on, so Verenice and I waited for Jacob to get there, and we went to the backroom to just talk.Only 5 minutes into the night I remember why I hated Oasis.First of all...the crowd.Guys flaunting themselves, and their bodies...practically having sex on the dance floor, the stupid dance music, the attitudes and pretensions...and this is supposed to represent all gay males?? Sad, just sad. I'm glad Verenice had fun, and she got to make out with some girl (she needed it!!) , but I was miserable.Thank god Jacob was there. He made me laugh and feel a little better, by being his usual silly self. Jacob has been the best friend I've had for years, and we've been through so much together.I'm glad I called and invited him. Of course, what would a night at the big O be without a wet shorts contest?? The whole concept of our supposed gay "subculture" disgusts me. Give me a good punk show over this, anyday! Of course...this whole outting put some tension between my b/f and I, and I understand why. First of all, I told him I wanted to go home and rest, and I really did.The only reason I went was for Verenice.Second, he's afraid someone is going to hit on me at the club, which is of course...ridiculous! Someone hit on me? That'll be the day. He just doesn't get it sometimes. XOXO

12:21am: me quieren en L.A. ...
I saw Los Abandoned again tonight.I gave Lady P the Liz Phair stickers I got for her at last night's show, and she loved them.I also got a picture taken with the band, hopefully I won't be blinking this time! Each show gets rowdier, and I get sadder...I want them to make it, but I like being able to go up to them, and talking to them...I think I'm sucha groupie sometimes, I mean...Dance Hall Crashers? Hello. Its like they know me from seeing me so many times, which is cool...but I dunno...Anna Waronker is defintely on my list for stalking, and now Lady P and the boys...maybe because its easy to talk to them while they're not so popular, and since Los Abandoned play around here so often...speaking of this kind of stuff, I've made good friends by semi-stalking, if you want to call it that. The Halo Friendlies are now good friends of mine and are also making quite a name for themselves.I take their cds to give out to other cool bands I see (such as the Angoras, who are now broken up :((( ) , and so I brought one for Lady P, and also for the girls in Go Betty Go.Sadly, the guitarist for Go Betty Go didn't seem that interested.Instead of saying "oh cool, thanks" she drilled me on my Halo Friendlies facts! Like they're LA GRAN CACA already.Well, I do like their music, they do rock, but lets not get too big for our britches, ok? Oh gawd, I am a groupie! XOXO

I think I'm in love.In love with Liz Phair. So tonight I saw Liz Phair at the Avalon, and it was soooooooooo much fun. She's so tiny and beautiful...and she wore a sweater dress!!And it looked cute!! And, I even cried when she broke into "Glory" out of nowhere...her band looked at her like "huh??". But she just played it alone, and I don't know...maybe it was just me...but there seemed to be a halo surrounding her whole body the whole time...she smiled at me 3 times, and I got a setlist...I'm in heaven.
